There are many ways to support Buchanan County Conservation...
Donate to Friends of Fontana Park
Individuals, groups, and businesses may donate to the Friends of Fontana Park, a non-profit organization that funds many programs and projects. Donations may be made as a memorial to a friend or relative. The following are levels of possible contribution: Donor ($1-99) Supporter ($250-499) Sponsor ($1,000-4,999) Contributor ($100-249) Patron ($500-999) Founder ($5,000 or more). To become a donor contact the Executive Director at (319) 636-2617. Checks may be made out to the Friends of Fontana Park and sent to Fontana Interpretive Nature Center, 1883 125th St., Hazleton, IA 50641.
Sponsor an Animal
A few animals still remain available in the Fontana Park Wildlife Display for the 2011 Animal Sponsorship Program. Animal sponsorships make the perfect holiday gift for the hard-to-buy-for animal lover. To sponsor an animal in our wildlife exhibit, an individual, group, or business needs to make a minimum donation to the Friends of Fontana Park, ranging from $25 to $150. Sponsors will receive certificates, and a letter and photo about their sponsored animal. Sponsor names appear on plaques on the animals' enclosures for the 2011 calendar year. Donors may also choose to sponsor the birdfeeders for a month ($50). The Animal Sponsorship program raises money for the Conservation Board’s environmental education program. The money goes toward educational and recreational programs, the newsletter, and animal display. To become a sponsor, contact the Fontana Interpretive Nature Center at 319-636-2617 or [email protected].
Donate Food for the Wildlife Display
Fontana Park accepts donations of meat and fresh fruit and vegetables for the animals in their wildlife display. There are a few things to consider when donating meat. The meat must be less than 4 years old and be unseasoned. Organ meat is not accepted. The larger the pieces of meat the better. Please call ahead to let us know when you are dropping off donations at 319-636-2617.
